Americana Reimagined at its best, this presentation will step into Petaluma’s living history with historian Katherine Rinehart as she shares stories behind some of Petaluma’s classic examples of roadside architecture. Discover how, through adaptive reuse, these properties reveal the economic and social trends that shaped the city’s past while continuing to serve the needs of today.

Katherine J. Rinehart is a consulting historian specializing in house history documentation, archival organization, research, and exhibit development. She holds an MA in History from Sonoma State University and recently founded the Petaluma Signs Project,  dedicated to preserving historic signs that enrich our unique identity. Previously, Katherine managed the Sonoma County History & Genealogy Library. Her current clients include Sonoma State University Library and the Tomales Regional History Center. Katherine is an official Petaluma Good Egg, an annual honor celebrating individuals who advance the story of the city's unique past. She is the author of Petaluma: A History in Architecture and co-authored The Petaluma River: A Sketch Journal and Brief Historical Overview and the Petaluma Vintage Signs Guidebook.
