Let your imagination wander! In this playful watercolor workshop, you’ll explore the meditative art of doodle tangling—creating intricate patterns and designs one simple stroke at a time. No drawing experience necessary and no pressure to make a “perfect” picture.
You’ll combine colorful watercolor washes with whimsical lines, shapes, and patterns to create a unique work of art that’s entirely your own. Come slow down, get curious, and discover how a few simple doodles can turn into something wonderfully unexpected!

Bring a favorite photograph, a live flower or small plant, or even a meaningful memory to use as inspiration. No matter where you are in your artistic journey, you’ll be encouraged to experiment, have fun, and focus on the larger picture rather than striving for perfection. There are no mistakes in art—only opportunities to explore.

Nancy Ballard's love of art began in childhood, when she first discovered the magic of brush and paint—a sense of wonder that continues to shape her work today. After a full life as a mother, grandmother, and corporate professional, she returned to art following her retirement in 2006, studying watercolor with Mary L. Harden at Strybing Arboretum. In 2009, she was recognized as a Master Artist of Botanical Illustration by the San Francisco Botanical Garden Society. Nancy has also worked as a gallery curator and exhibiting artist throughout the Bay Area, sharing her botanical work in galleries, wineries, hospitals, and nonprofit spaces while supporting environmental awareness through art.
