Americana Reimagined

Exhibition Dates:
March 12 - April 18, 2026
Opening Reception: Thursday, March 12, 5:30-7:30pm

On the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States, Americana Reimagined invited artists from across the greater Bay Area to explore, reinterpret, and reimagine the visual language of “Americana”. This juried exhibition looks beyond nostalgia to examine how familiar symbols, stories, and styles evolve over time—bridging the past and present through creativity and craft.

“Americana” has long served as a reflection of everyday life and culture, from small-town iconography and handmade crafts to design movements and popular imagery. In Americana Reimagined artists reexamine this broad theme, juxtaposing the old and the new, and honoring timeless motifs while offering fresh perspectives on what they mean today.

Jurors

Donna Seager, Donna Seager Fine Arts & Artists’ Books
Richard Neill, Multimedia Artist and Film curator
Simon Corwin, Petaluma Artist and Jewelry Designer

In conjunction with this exhibition, in our North Gallery, the Center invites Artist Inez Storer to present States of Anxiety, States of Hope: The Works of Inez Storer, a special exhibition of her work that reflects upon the themes explored in Americana Reimagined. Storer’s work offers a powerful and personal perspective on the complexities, contradictions, and emotional landscape of the American experience.
