Selections from Thirty Six Views of the Golden Gate Bridge

July 23-August 29, 2026

The photographs in this exhibition are selected from Thirty-Six Views of the Golden Gate Bridge, a series inspired by Japanese artist Katsushika Hokusai, who, between 1830 and 1832, created Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji, a series of landscape prints depicting the sacred mountain from different locations, in different seasons, and in all kinds of weather. Nearly two hundred years later, Arthur Drooker applied Hokusai’s artistic concept to photographing San Francisco’s defining landmark.
