In the Main Gallery, Expressions in Metal brings together nine Northern California artists who treat metal not as a static material but as a living language.
Curated by Vicky Kumpfer, this exhibition highlights a range of contemporary practices rooted in metalwork. Some artists forge, cast, or weld, honoring the discipline’s long lineage of craftsmanship. Others push the material into unexpected territories, experimenting with surface, scale, and form. Across the exhibition, metal is bent, stretched, pierced, patinated, and even coaxed into gestures that contradict its reputation for hardness.
